Pakufi partnered with Ubuntu Chess, a community-led initiative grounded in collective thinking, sustainability, and human connection. From the first conversation with founder Vipua Rukambe, there was immediate alignment as this was never just about launching a website, but about building something meaningful together. Challenge

Ubuntu Chess needed a website that could authentically represent their mission, engage their growing community, and reflect the organisation's values within practical constraints of scope, budget, and time. Beyond the technical requirements, the project called for a thoughtful approach to content strategy, information architecture, and long-term sustainability.
The website needed to feel human and story-driven, not templated or generic. Perhaps most importantly, Ubuntu Chess needed a development partner who would genuinely listen, respect their vision, and work collaboratively without adding unnecessary complexity. The challenge was not simply to build something functional, it was to build something that truly represented who Ubuntu Chess is and what they stand for.

Solution

Pakufi led the project from consulting through to delivery, covering UX planning, WordPress design and development, content integration, and infrastructure setup. Mentorship was embedded throughout — junior developer Arbisola Pali built her first live client project under close senior guidance, learning not just how, but why.
